Whenever we had Phosh community get togethers or meetups, discussions usually came to a point where we wished for a “more official” place to have users and developers come together in order to exchange ideas and collaborate on improving Linux based mobile phone use, make it more known to the public and plan ahead.
So at the very end of February 2025 parts of the community came together and founded an association under German law called Phosh.mobi e.V. - e.V. means “eingetragener Verein” and is a non profit association governed by its members. You can see the bylaws for details. The following weeks were then spent to get the formalities in place and as of today we can finally make things public.
These are the founding members (in alphabetical order):
- Jakob Berger
- Nicole Faerber
- Dana Gruschwitz
- Guido Günther
- Matthias Kirschner
- Wolfram Quester
- Evangelos Ribeiro Tzaras
- Sebastian Späth
- Romina Tidona
We’re still preparing plenty of things to get fully going like translating documents to English (the initial versions are in German due to the legal requirements), accepting new member applications (including supporting members), adding more ways of accepting donations, and participating in events but we wanted to get the news out to you as soon as possible!
Both the Amtsgericht Montabaur, our local authorities in RLP as well as the responsible financial authorities were very cooperative and helped a lot to get things started. Thanks for that!
